"I'll murder him for killing himself this way"

Here's another ultra-rare story starring the Famous' short-lived pairing of Hector and Herman.
So far I miss issues 14 and 16 of "Animal Comics".
Hope Frank or Thad can be of help!
Meanwhile, enjoy this forgotten gem!

See ya around,

I'll be back....

After Christmas card season is done. I didn't want anyone to think I've been slacking, or lazy, or dead or anything. Since I should post a picture, here's a pic of my son's room. I finished it last year. When he grows up I suppose I'll have to paint over it all!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hillary Clinton cartoon

As a citizen and a human being, I wish she'd go away.  As a cartoonist, I'm glad to see her again.  Talk about compartmentalization!

Buy it as a greeting card here.

New cartoon and Jackie Edward Oliver:))

Jack drew this...if you look carefully you can see his logos drawn in a kiddy fashion..e.g the worm number 5, the warthog number 3, Abolish T Tuseday in kids spelling number 7, the box with handle number 9, ACME number 8, and even a childish signature ..Jackie Edward Oliver in the last panel..not Jack.......it really made me smile seeing this again today. From Whoopee!! Christmas 1984 my era..:)

My website on Jack-

New one drawn today.....I tried to get a neon effect on the background board of the ball ramming the skittle. Also like the bowler Lion t.shirt..

The success of the flew market selling my cartoon cards has really got me drawing again...:)

World Ends Today cartoon

I wasn't going to include this, but on second thought, it's political in the sense that it reflects the political mood.

Obama Hillary Secretary of State Birth Certificate Kenya cartoon

The reason I title these posts so wordily is to make them easy to find when people Google for the subject, by the way.

This birth certificate controversy is a real, tangible thing.  Even Camille Paglia, an Obama supporter, has questions about it.

And, I keep forgetting to tell you, this, and indeed most of my cartoons are available as greeting cards at Greeting Card Universe.

Clinton Fatigue cartoon

Well, the Clintons are sucking all the oxygen out of the room again.  I simply can't figure out why Obama would want to start this soap opera up again for his administration.  You tell me.

Mr Men ebay finds

Ebay is a great place to see rare Mr Men items.

The popular Mr Greedy, Mr Silly and Mr Forgetful feature in these computer games written for children of four years and upwards.

Entertaining and rewarding, the games are designed not only to be fun to play but also to help young children develop the skills they need when starting to read.

They are also a friendly and absorbing first introduction for a child to the exciting world of computers.

Thsi is obviously rare as is over 20 years old!

Reginald Heade

From goodgirlart.com/heade.html

"Reginald Heade was probably the best British "girlie" paperback cover artist of the 1950s. He was born in 1902 or 1903 - there is no record of his birth in England. He died in 1957, leaving no children, no will and no evidence of his existence other than his signatures on those gorgeous covers he produced. And in 1954, he even stopped signing his work, when the publisher of the books he illustrated went to jail on obscenity charges. Heade produced over 300 covers, most of them impossible to find. He is not listed in any British standard artist references - no one even recalls meeting him. A true man of mystery."

Heade is pretty amazing. I see quite a few similarities to Bolles- the dramatic lighting, and the large eyes and cartoony proportions. Like Bolles, Heades illustrations glow.

I don't have any Heade covers in my collection- the following images were all found online.

Multiculturalism cartoon

Did this one a while ago, but it gets more and more relevant.

Classics from the comics edtiting on canes and slippers

from Classics

From The Beano Book 1958..

Classics from the comics is editing corporal punishment...look at panel 1!!
Even canes hitting a kid on the nose is too much for our new kid readers.......it all seems stupid to me...who thought up this rule......it even says its from the late 50's on the Classics from the comics strip so its a period piece...
Kids do learn about history at school...

Dennis Dad's slipper often is edited out....
the small edits might not mean much...But it does to me...the year the strip came out should inform the reader enough. Its not today!!

I used to think Classics was all I needed ...too expensive to get old comics..
Now I'm spending the money...the colour..the strips that are never shown...I've changed my mind completely...I love the red colour in the old comics..the paper colour...crisp black line...colour pages..the originals are so much better. Buying old Toppers and Beezers has been wonderful the large size print..bright colours...so much better!!!

Obama Fairness Doctrine cartoon

Most of you know that I'm a conservative, and my opposition to the so-called Fairness Doctrine is no surprise.  But here's the same reaction from a long-time leftist, Nat Hentoff.

Also, to help spread the word, this cartoon will be available as a greeting card here.

Obama's birth certificate cartoon

In case you hadn't heard, there's a controversy about his birth certificate.  For some reason the State of Hawaii won't release it.  The version on the net is said to be fishy by many people.  You can read about it here, where they judge it a valid birth certificate, and here, where they maintain that it's a forgery.  Or you can just google "Obama" "Birth certificate" and find lots of stuff pro and con.

Anyhow, if you want to get your friends interested in the issue, I'm making this available as a greeting card here.

Reworked foreign policy cartoon

This is just a different version of one I recently posted.

"Two's a Crowd"

Time for the first entry in the Chuck Jones' Claude Cat VS Frisky Puppy trilogy.
I love how Claude tris subtle ways to get rid of the dog and then decides to just kill him chasing him around the house with an axe and with an homicidal look in his eyes.
Betwen this and "No Barking" there's one of the most boring cartoons Jones ever made. Hardly a Jones after 1948 was a miss but that was the case.
Anyway let's watch this, a very good entry that also shows how Jones' unit had the best animators!

Best,

Andrea

Offenbark by Reg Parlett

UPDATE
That "Offenbark" strip originally appeared in the first (1964) Boys' World Annual, though I don't think it ever ran in the weekly comic where Parlett drew a regular 'Did You Know?' feature instead. It's a great shame the old fleabag didn't enjoy a longer career as he had everything required to become the canine equivalent of Lion's long-running 'Mowser' imho.

It's worth remembering that some of Parlett's best work during the early 1960s was published in Odhams titles like Boys' World, Eagle and Swift where the higher printing values allowed him to use grey washes - and sometimes full colour. Of these strips the most popular was certainly Eagle's 'prehistoric poodle' Fidosaurus who ran riot every week for several years in a world that was a reasonable facsimile of the Flintstones' Bedrock (he was subsequently renamed 'Pongo' and then 'Fido' for two separate runs of reprints in Buster after IPC bought out Odhams). Happily I managed to acquire the original artwork for one of these sets last weekend and I can't wait to see how it looks framed (he said smugly!).

- Phil R.

Thanks Phil for the info from comicsuk forum.

http://ukcomicsarefun.blogspot.com/2008/11/lion-annual-1983-last-one.html From ukcomicsarefun blog there is a feature on the Lion 1983.
Thanks to Phil Fluter.

What got me excited was a new Reg Parlett strip I've not seen before.
Offenbark! Anyone know which comic it was from or was it a one off for the Lion Annual. To me it looks like it was from Lion comic as a guess. There was a similar strip with a cat and butler by Reg..maybe this one is the first version.
Can anyone help!!!

Obama Bush Foreign Policy cartoon

Like a lot of people have been saying from the beginning, there will be no real change in US foreign policy.
