The Dream Team Is Finally Here!!!

Marvel released a couple of teaser ads earlier this month showcasing Elektra, Punisher, etc. with the tagline, "______ For Hire". Finally, we know what those ads were all about - the new HEROES FOR HIRE book debuting in December 2010 written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (DnA, to their fans) and drawn by Brad Walker (in short, the creative team from "Nova" and "Guardians of the Galaxy").

I predict that this will be the sleeper hit of 2011. After all, DnA could get you excited about a book featuring a talking tree, a gun-tottin' raccoon, an insane woman who may by the Celestial Madonna, Bug and... err... Star-Lord (?!?). Imagine what they could do with Ghost Rider, Punisher, Elektra, Iron Fist and Moon Knight! This is the dream team in comics working on the dream team of characters. I'm definitely reserving my ticket! :)

In the meantime, read this interview at Newsarama with the new creators of "Black Panther: Man Without Fear" - David Liss and Francesco Francavilla. I don't really know why people are complaining about "Shadowland" and this book. Marvel is trying some great new stuff and thankfully moving away from event-driven books for a while.

Black Panther: Man Without Fear

At the end of Ed Brubaker's run on DD, Matt Murdock became the leader of the Hand. Andy Diggle took the story from there and continued into a crossover event called "Shadowland". The whole thing ended with the fall of Murdock and a new Daredevil. The DD series ends with #512 and the Black Panther storyarc begins with #513 (just like how Incredible Hercules continued the numbering of Incredible Hulk when Herc took over the book). Matt Murdock will return in an upcoming miniseries in 2011.

As for now, I'm happy that Black Panther is getting a little bit more spotlight again with this series and the Klaws of the Panther mini by Jonathan Maberry following the "Doomwar" event.

Back To Hell's Kitchen

Stopped by Borders an hour ago to pick up the second volume omnibus collection of Ed Brubaker's "Daredevil" run. This, along with the first volume that I already own, collect the entirety of Bru's work on DD; including the Annual and the "Blood of the Tarantula" one-shot. I can't wait to get home (after work this evening) and read the whole thing in one-sitting. This sets things up nicely for Andy Diggle's run and the present goings-on in the "Shadowland" event.
